Chief Medical Officer produces special report on Wales’s response to the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic

Dr Frank Atherton, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Wales, has produced a very detailed report on Wales' response to the first phase of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Covering the period from the start of the pandemic through to summer 2020, the report considers:

  • the wider effects of COVID-19 on our health and society in Wales
  • preparing for future pandemics with a ‘One Health’ approach
  • the effects of COVID-19 on health inequities in Wales and the UK
  • the indirect effects of COVID-19 on our health, economy and society
It considers the impact on people with disabilities, such as the effect of social distancing on people with visual impairments, and makes a series of recommendations for future actions. You can read it here.
