Deafblind Awareness Week - 27th June to 3rd July

People are being encouraged to get 'In the Know' about deafblindness in this year's Awareness Week. Deafblindness is a combined sight and hearing impairment. It doesn’t always mean no sight or hearing, although for some people this is the case. It affects around 400,000 people in the UK and it affects everyone differently.

Deafblind UK will be showcasing lesser known facts and information about deafblindness, to help those who don’t know much about it understand more. You can find out more here.

Sense has a comprehensive guide to deafblindness, covering topics such as the different types, diagnosis and managing the condition. Click here to read it.

Both Sense and Deafblind UK websites also contain information about the support that they offer to people with dual sensory loss and thier families. Follow #DeafblindAwarenessWeek on Twitter throughout the week for more information.
