Vision impaired people making the news

Here's our summary of recent BBC reports and stories featuring people with sight loss.

Lucy Edwards, who lost her sight at age 17, will be the first ever blind presenter on BBC Radio 1. She will be taking over the late morning slot on 28th and 29th December. You can find out more here.

Jessica Jolleys is a visually impaired actor and multi-instrumentalist staring as Jill in Theatr Clwyd’s festive production of Jack and the Beanstalk The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto. She has been interviewed by BBC Wales, for more information, click here.

The 'Saturday Live' programme on BBC Radio 4 on 7th December featured an interview with Zena Cooper from South Wales, who has marfan syndrome. She talked about keeping her sight loss secret for 38 years, and her new book, 'What You See When You Can't See: How Blindness Helped One Woman Discover the True Beauty of Life'. You can listen to the programme on the BBC website, Zena's interview is around 35 minutes from the start of the programme.
