Stem cell treatment restores sight of AMD patients

The first patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) to receive a new treatment derived from stem cells have regained enough vision to be able to read, in what has been described as 'a major milestone in the London Project to Cure Blindness', which was funded by the Macular Society.

The Macular Society website has information about this research, and also has a list of FAQs about its implications for people with the condition.
