North East Wales Sensory Support Service (NEWSS)

Description: The North East Wales Sensory Support Service (NEWSSS) is a regional service which supports children/young people with a hearing or vision loss, as well as their families and settings or schools. This joint service is led by Flintshire County Council and is provided across Conwy, Wrexham, Denbighshire and Flintshire.

Services Provided

Conwy Mobility specialist

NEWSSS has a member of staff qualified to provide mobility training to VI children in a school environment. The contact is Rachel Ward below.

Conwy VI Education Service

The team works with children and young people from birth to age 19. Specialist skills tuition is provided for those children and young people with a significant sensory loss with support, advice and guidance being provided for families, schools and other agencies to provide a seamless approach to meeting the needs of identified individuals.

Denbighshire VI Education Service

The team works with children and young people from birth to age 19. Specialist skills tuition is provided for those children and young people with a significant sensory loss with support, advice and guidance being provided for families, schools and other agencies to provide a seamless approach to meeting the needs of identified individuals.
