How WCB is funded.
The core function of WCB has always been mainly funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. In addition we have historically received small grants or service agreements from Local Authorities across Wales and this helps to fund the general work programme too.
Some of our activities are categorised as 'chargeable' services and they include: ICT assessments for the Department of Employment; Transcription of printed material into audio formats; awareness raising training courses.
We also seek funds from grant providers, trust funds etc to support our project work or specific areas of service monitoring.
The typical overall split of income is demonstrated best by the pie chart below (based on income in 2009-10):
The funds of WCB are spent on running our office location at Hallinans House, Cardiff and delivering the various services and projects.
As the chart below shows the majority of our costs are generated by employing our staff, whose experience and knowledge of the issues in the v.i. sector are key to the charity's functions and aims.
