A new building will be ready in late 2009 at Ceredigion Independent Living Centre, Unit 1, Aeron Valley Enterprise Park, Felinfach, Lampeter, Ceredigion SA48 8AG.

The Centre provides a rehabilitation and support service for people with sight impairments and those who are losing their sight. It is staffed by a Rehabilitation Officer, Evelyn Wigley, and a Mobility Officer, Colin Harrison.

The centre demonstrates equipment to assist with:

• Daily living skills such as labelling, mobility, cooking and leisure;
• Communication including writing, telephone, reading, computers and Braille;
• Seeing close tasks more clearly including:
• Magnifiers;
• Lighting;
• Television reading systems.

Training is also available regarding:

• The use of all available equipment;
• Safe and independent mobility;
• Reading/writing of Braille/Moon

Advice and information regarding all common eye conditions is also available.

The Centre is situated in the middle of the County on a bus route and can be visited by:

• Anyone who has significant difficulty with their sight;
• Friends, family, carers dealing directly with anyone with very poor sight;
• Any professional having direct contact with Visually Impaired people.
