Transcriptions and Accessible Media Unit

[back to general contents page]

The Transcriptions Unit was piloted in October 1995  to provide a service to those representatives of WCB who required large print, audio tape and braille documents. In addition the Unit could provide training and consultancy in matters relating to accessible media. The unit receives no direct funding from the Welsh Office and uses earnings from service provision to help sustain itself. These services are offered to voluntary, public and commercial sector organisations. Clients include the National Assembly for Wales, Employment Services, Welsh National Opera, Arts Council for Wales, Welsh Language Board, Disability Wales, Cardiff University and various unitary authorities in Wales. We have also produced accessible versions of official National Assembly "door-drops".

The Transcriptions Unit can supply bilingual (English/Welsh) documentation in:

  • audio tape
  • braille
  • large print
  • digital media

and offers accessible media consultancy and training.

Take a look at the Accessible Media Primer.

Information about some of the Transcription work can be found at the following: the work of the Transcriptions Unit
